The Deep Well of God’s Love
God’s love is like a bottomless well that is available to everyone who chooses to access it. The well, through the subsurface aquafer, also sustains the surrounding forest. All who live in the forest benefit from this subtle service.
To prevent death by dehydration some visit the well carrying a bucket and others bring a cup. The most industrious person may even devise an aqueduct system to deliver a steady stream of well water to their home. Unfortunately, some stand beside the well without the ability to draw or to drink the water from the well.
The well of pure water sustains an entire ecosystem. It’s water is available to all who make the effort to access it. However, individuals only benefit from the well when they follow the guidance on bringing a jug or a dipper that can reach into the well. Everyone must learn how to access the water in order to sustain their needs. God’s love is similar to this illustration of a well.
The Bible has given moral, ethical and practical guidance on how to access and enjoy the deep well of God’s love. Unfortunately, today an increasing number of people are standing beside the well empty handed while claiming they have the same access as one who has brought a bucket to retrieve the water.
