The Point of No Return
A popular phrase among unqualified candidates for a position is, “Fake it until you make it.” As Peter’s self-awareness developed over time, surely he must have wondered if he was faking it. Christ called upon him to set aside his past knowledge of Jewish practices, his own conceptions on Christ’s teachings and his fallen life goals. For example, Jews expected the Messiah to become a worldly king and to rule over a physical nation, yet Christ said that his kingdom was not of this world.
